Steve Jobs Human Design Mystery: 3 Minutes Changed EVERYTHING? Birth Time Reliability Exposed
We’re applying Human Design for greater mental, physical, and emotional well-being, and today we take our FINAL deep dive into Steve Jobs with a shocking surprise.
What happens when your birth time reliability score is LOW?
Just 3 minutes flips Steve Jobs’ entire chart!
We compare the two possible designs side-by-side (Moon stays the same, but Sun/Earth + bases shift dramatically):
✅ Rectified time chart = Defined Heart Center + Right Angle Cross of Planning (1/3 profile)
❌ Recorded time chart (what most people use) = Completely Open Heart + Left Angle Cross of Spirit (6/3 profile)
In this eye-opening analysis, we uncover:
• How Steve’s adoption trauma at age 6 created massive self-worth wounds (and how an open Heart Center amplifies it — but a defined Heart isn’t immune)
• Gate 40 + Channel of Community: the tyrant boss, workaholic, narcissistic reputation explained through Human Design mechanics
• First-line bullying vs. sixth-line (50-year cycle) big-picture maturity
• Motivation & Transference: Innocence vs. blind Desire/Fear vs. Blind Need — which one actually drove his “insanely great” products and control-freak tendencies?
• Real quotes from Steve, his ex-girlfriend, New York Times, and more — all mapped to his gates, centers, and streams of sensitivity & need
• The deep inner drive to prove “I was worthy of being kept” — linking undefined G + Heart to his legendary perfectionism and binary judgments
This isn’t just another Steve Jobs biography. It’s an excerpt example masterclass in how tiny birth-time details can rewrite your entire Human Design story and life themes.
The Birth Time Reliability Problem: Why 3 Minutes Matter
If you’ve ever pulled a Human Design chart and noticed a low birth-time reliability score (especially with older births where times were often estimated), head over to maiamechanics.com. Scroll to the Birth Data section and you’ll see the warning.
In Steve’s case, the recorded time puts him right on the border between two completely different designs. Flip the clock forward just 3 minutes and everything shifts — most importantly the Conscious Sun/Earth and Incarnation Cross bases.
The Moon doesn’t change, but the Incarnation Cross, profile, and key centers do.
Here they are side-by-side (I’ve zoomed in so you can see the difference clearly):
Recorded chart (most common): Left Angle Cross of Spirit, 6/3 profile
Rectified chart (3 minutes later): Right Angle Cross of Planning, 1/3 profile
One has a defined Heart Center. The other? Totally open.
That single difference creates an enormous vulnerability; especially when combined with Steve’s adoption story.
Steve’s Adoption Trauma & the Heart Center Wound
At age 6, a neighborhood girl asked Steve: “Does that mean your real parents didn’t want you?” He ran home in tears.
His adoptive parents reassured him: “We chose you specifically.”
But Human Design shows us how deeply that contradiction landed:
Open Heart (recorded chart): Constant questioning of self-worth and what is “worthy.” Gate 40 (Denial) sits in the stream of need. Even the strongest defined Heart can feel rejected — but an open one amplifies every slight.
Defined Heart (rectified chart): Consistent willpower, yet still carries the Channel of Community (part seeking whole).
Either way, the childhood wound of “chosen yet rejected” created two contradictory truths that Steve carried his entire life.
Gate 40 + Channel of Community: The Tyrant Boss Explained
Steve had a reputation as a workaholic and tyrant. A longtime girlfriend read the DSM entry on narcissistic personality disorder and said, “It fits so well… expecting him to be nicer was like expecting a blind man to see.”
New York Times (1987): “By the early 80s Mr. Jobs was widely hated at Apple. Senior management endured his temper tantrums… reducing employees to tears. Mr. Jobs himself would frequently cry after fights.”
Human Design mechanics behind the behavior:
Gate 40 (first line in rectified chart) = authoritative, “do as I say,” bossy, bully energy when not-self.
Channel of Community (40-37) = tribal need to feed and lead the “work family.” Approval/disapproval flows through Gate 16.
Stream of Sensitivity + emotional authority = regret, sensitivity, and emotional outbursts.
First lines can be domineering. Sixth lines take 50 years to mature into big-picture wisdom. Steve’s tantrums, credit-hogging, seduction-then-abandonment, and “hours-long dictator-like speeches” all map directly here.
Motivation & Transference: Which Cross Was Steve Really Living?
This is where the 3-minute difference becomes life-changing.
Recorded chart (6/3 Cross of Spirit)
Motivation: Innocence (motiveless)
Transference: Blind Desire
Ra Uru Hu calls the 6/3 on this cross “potentially promiscuous” because of the 59.3. Steve denied paternity of his daughter Lisa initially (94.4% DNA match) before later reconciling.
Rectified chart (1/3 Cross of Planning)
Motivation: Fear (resolving the unknown → security)
Transference: Blind Need
Investigator energy. First-line color + tone = deepest investigative intelligence on the planet.
Steve said: “It’s not the consumer’s job to know what they want.” “I’m always keeping my eyes open for the next big opportunity.” “Following your heart… there’s no reason not to follow your heart.”
He also described himself as someone who could “convince himself of things that weren’t necessarily true” to get impossible things done through sheer will.
These statements map far more cleanly to the 1/3 Cross of Planning — the strategic, communalist, investigator who sniffs out what doesn’t work to build security for the tribe.
Katya (who created the slides for this series) and I both lean toward the rectified 1/3 chart. The obsessive control, binary “insanely great or dookie” judgments, micromanaging cafeteria food, and closed ecosystem all scream “desire to control” coming from a deep need to prove worthiness after abandonment.
The Deep Drive to Prove “I Was Worthy of Being Kept”
A close friend said: “Steve’s drive came from a deep inner desire… to prove that his parents were wrong to give him up.”
Undefined G Center + open/defined Heart + childhood rejection = a man building a perfect world he could control because he couldn’t control his own origins.
Every A-player hired, every “insanely great” product, every person who stayed while others were cast out became evidence submitted to an absent jury: “See? I am worthy. You should not have let me go.”
Later in life, after his cancer diagnosis, Steve wrote a profound confession: “I grow little of the food I eat. I do not make any of my own clothing… I am totally dependent on [my species] for my life and well-being.”
For a man whose identity was built on self-sufficiency and control, that admission was monumental — a shift from isolation to recognizing the very Channel of Community he carried all along.
Which Chart Is Actually Steve Jobs?
I don’t have mental certainty (I’m not a defined Ajna certainty type). But the evidence (the willpower, control what people are eating, the investigator curiosity, the tribal leadership, the bullying, security-seeking) points strongly to the 1/3 Right Angle Cross of Planning with defined Heart.

Full Video Transcript: Steve Jobs Human Design Mystery – Birth Time Reliability Exposed (Complete Spoken Transcript to accomodate different learning styles)
Welcome back to your bioenergetic map for vitality. We're applying Human Design for greater mental, physical, and emotional well-being. And today we are continuing with a final look at Steve Jobs. Remember I said I had a surprise for you.
I just want to show you real quick what to do when you have a birth-time reliability score that is low. So in MaiaMechanics.com, part of the app under Birth Data, just scroll down and see this section. If it's low, what can happen is that the chart you're looking at isn't necessarily correct (because a lot of people, especially back in the day, would estimate these birth times).
What I'm going to do is go over to what changes (and it's just 3 minutes later). So I'm going to flip back and forth between these two images. And what you're going to find (I've blown this up so that you can see it real clearly) it's so close, 3 minutes, that the Moon doesn't even change on either side, just the base and especially the Sun and Earth.
Because Steve was born right on the border between the sixth line, the Left Angle Cross of the Spirit, and the first line right next door where we have a Cross of Planning, we can see that he's right on the border. Everything being shifted over (and just the bases, plus of course the Sun and Earth). That's the most important thing.
Now when that happens, we have a channel that comes through with this particular design. So let's continue in our journey. Here they are right next to each other.
Steve’s Adoption Trauma & the Heart Center Vulnerability
I want to talk a bit about how Jobs was adopted and how these facts actually can create an enormous vulnerability when it comes to their life’s experience. So the biggest difference, as you can see between these two charts, is one has a defined Heart and one does not. It’s totally open.
So oftentimes that kind of vulnerability can lead one to not knowing what is worthy or one’s own self-worth, self-esteem. Whereas just 3 minutes later we have somebody who is very insecure potentially (but still we have this consistency of the Channel of Community, design of a part seeking a whole).
And so this childhood trauma (when he was about 6 years old) it was reported that a neighborhood girl asked him, “Does that mean your real parents didn’t want you?” and Jobs ran home in tears. Now from our analysis so far, we know that “want” is his way of seeing, and that because he had a sixth-line node it would take some time to come to full maturity when it comes to how one interprets the world around you. Sixth lines take 50 years.
So the parents that adopted him reassured him that he really was wanted. They chose him specifically. But when it comes to lightning bolts of recognition or awareness, even the strongest Heart Center can feel rejected or denied. We know the Gate 40 can also be about denial. And being emotional, of course, just throws a monkey wrench into the whole thing.
And as a child (you never know, this is 6 years old) you never really fully develop your brain and mind capacity to full maturity. In regular Human Design, actually sees maturity as 50 (the full flowering). But in modern-day societies we don’t rent cars to people who are younger than 24. So you can imagine that this paradox of being chosen yet rejected had these two contradictory truths.
The Tyrant Boss Reputation – Gate 40 & Channel of Community Explained
So we’re going to explore some of the quotes as well as concepts of what Steve Jobs was like based on third-party reporting. So here’s an example. If you go to allaboutstevejobs.com, he was reported to be a workaholic and had the reputation of being a tyrant.
If we look at what Gate 40 (particularly this whole channel and the first line) can be, first lines can be very domineering or “do as I say, this is the way it has to be.” They’re authoritative and the ego or Heart Center when defined can be incredibly threatening. First lines are bully-ish and the ego/Heart can be incredibly pressurizing on those who are undefined.
Emotional people who are not healthy (as in they’re not mature) can oftentimes throw fits or, in the first-line way, bully to get their way, really be pushy or bossy. “Bossy” is another keynote of being a first line.
There was a longtime girlfriend of Steve’s, Tina Redse, who said she happened to read in a psychiatric manual about narcissistic personality disorder and decided that Jobs fit perfectly that criteria. As in, quote: “It fits so well and explained so much of what we had struggled with that I realized expecting him to be nicer or less self-centered was like expecting a blind man to see.”
As far as the profile is concerned, a 1/3 is incredibly self-centered, selfish. In fact he’s got the most selfish and self-centered gate activation in the design (the Gate 10 as well). So a 1/3 is a very different profile than a 6/3. And we’ll actually get some quotes from Ra Uru Hu relative to that Cross so we can get a sense of whether or not this man is a 1/3 or a 6/3. It makes a big difference, as you will see.
When we try to find evidence of what motivated Jobs’ cognition, we can see the difference between a one and a six. If it was the previous 3 minutes before, the signs of his not-self transference would be different.
We have to keep in mind too the experience of being abandoned by his parents (this always gives you a significant effect on a person’s life).
As early as 1987 the New York Times wrote: “By the early 80s Mr. Jobs was widely hated at Apple. Senior management had to endure his temper tantrums. He created resentment among employees by turning some into stars and insulting others, often reducing them to tears. Mr. Jobs himself would frequently cry after fights with fellow executives.”
Now this channel is part of the stream of sensitivity. So even though he might have been playing the bully, threatening, bossy, giving approval to one and disapproval to the other, he still had that emotional regret as we can see from this Channel of Recognition, a design of focused energy which is about feelings. And so when it comes to being sensitive and emotional, we definitely have that in the cards here. So a case for the 1/3.
Motivation & Transference: Innocence vs. Desire vs. Need
Another interesting thing: the ego is about what is needed or wanted. That’s part of the stream of need. Now here is an interesting quote. He says, “It’s not the consumer’s job to know what they want.” And if we recall, in either case “wanting” is the way in which he is supposed to see the world.
Now if he is a 6/3, here’s what Ra Uru Hu has to say about that Incarnation Cross (if it was the 3 minutes earlier): “There’s nothing more potentially promiscuous than a 6/3 combination as far as the profile on this Cross of the Spirit.” Why? Because we have the grounding into the gate of sexuality. So the full channel would be mating design of focused on reproduction.
Then if we look at this Cross of the Spirit, yes we can have the creative spirit of teasing the customer to fall in love with the product. But if this were the case then Jobs most likely would have had a little bit more notoriety for being sexually promiscuous back in that day.
I know he does have a child that he initially denied (fathered and initially denied the parenting of even though 94.4% of his DNA said that this was his child). He later retracted, apologized, and took the child under his wing (his daughter Lisa).
So this is the perpetual thing that this person would bring (being caught in the individual spirit here but longing for a family unit). Why? Because the sixth line is not part of the hexagram itself. It’s looking towards the next hexagram which would be the gate 37 and that Cross bringing the 40 in the grounding.
So it is still kind of the potentiality for Steve being someone who is a 1/3.
He says, “I’m always keeping my eyes open for the next big opportunity.” And sixth lines are noted for their ability to have a big-picture view. But interestingly, if we take a look at his view, he is a sixth line here. So obviously he is still going to be looking for trends. In fact 1/3s are able to keep track and see those trends.
What do people really want? And we know he said something about “it’s not the customer’s job to know what they want.” So the mercurialness of his way of being, his tantrums (he would have quote hours-long dictator-like speeches). Now right there, dictator (first line).
So having a famous, desperate, and transparent hogging of credit (well, big ego). All ego gates have big, big egos. And the charismatic leader complex is also something that was reported. He would seduce and then abandon people that he’s worked with. Troubled, unsocialized, while also charismatic.
And this is interesting because there’s a potential interpretation that some of his actions were motivated by desire, which would be his transference up here. That’s one thing that speaks in favor of this chart. But overall, he gives off the value of a 1/3 Cross of Planning, says Katchcha (who’s been creating all of these slides for us in part of the analysis work). And I tend to agree.
So let’s look at the comparison of the motivation. Innocence is supposed to be without motivation (nothing, no agenda, nothing’s pushing it). So it’s just something that’s there. And then acceptance underneath. This is the key to transcendence as far as how we come together as a community. The accepting mind and a deep cyclical transformation process. It’s emotional, connected to our future.
The mutational flow that’s happening at our present time (any of you with an acceptance tone in your mind, you’re really connected to the present transformation, that 2027 shift, background frequency shift). Wherever you have sixes, you will resonate to that shift in February on the 15th, 2027.
The observer is a very interesting role. It’s a strategy, but in a different way. It’s very much the judgment or observation of the effectiveness of the strategy if he were left. That’s looking towards the future. But the observed is the perfect expression of the existential.
If we think about observer, they’re watching the train go down the track towards the mountains because this is the way the left works. It’s always projecting forward, looking forward (sixth line, looking beyond, seeing beyond). But we don’t even know if the observed happens to have their eyes open or not. Remember it’s eyes closed because they’re not looking down there at all. Their life is about the past, the experiential past. The right has no future. It’s all about now. And the stored past has the ingredients for the purpose (the innocence without motivation and no agenda).
So the transference being blind desire. We’re looking now at someone who in not-self is that they’re trying to constantly conceptualize through the motivation to control, to lead, to decide who’s going to be first, who’s going to be last. This is about thinking or being driven by desire that takes them away from the basic power that’s there in their design.
This is true with anybody who is sixth color. Your trajectory of whether this whole thing about observation being seen is that you’re innocent in your process, innocent in the way that you operate in relationship to everything else. Ra would call it enlightened selfishness as far as the sixth quality.
So did Steve have an obsessive desire to control? He could have been motivated through this conceptualization process to lead and decide. His mind creating operational frameworks where he was the singular authority. Now right there though (authority) I’m in charge. First-line business products existed only as he imagined them. Whether people delivered his vision (if they didn’t they were replaced). So it was a way of thinking about reality, not just his management style. He conceptualized the world as a binary potentially.
We know that the third transference or perspective would have been power instead of desire (would have been personal to power). So that would be winners and losers, A-players or “pieces of dookie.” So he placed himself at the center of that binary (the one who decided). The desire to control extended from the global to the granular. Even the cafeteria food was something that he tried to control.
And that desire to lead meant absolute accountability with no excuses. The desire to determine outcomes means that for him, people’s careers, products, fates, and even board members’ positions were all subject to his black-and-white thinking. This is what happens when you’re out of integrity. It’s either this or that. There’s no gray areas in between.
So is this the mind of a man who conceptualized through desire, who saw the world as something to be shaped or controlled and judged according to his vision?
There’s also this desire beneath that to prove that he was worthy of love. So Steve, as a close friend said, “Steve’s drive came from a deep inner desire. He wanted to prove that his parents were wrong to give him up.” A desire, in short, to be loved (or more precisely to prove that he was someone worthy of being loved).
Now we can link that to the undefined Heart. There are so many people (63% of the population) that are undefined in the Heart Center that are running around trying to chase the approval of people who are defined in the Heart Center. It’s just something that they tend to do.
So if we consider his drive through that lens, his need to control takes on a different dimension. The closed ecosystem, binary judgments, the refusal to compromise (this might be seen as more than just aesthetic or business choices). Perhaps they were expressions of a man constructing a world he could perfect.
We know he had an aspect of that (let me just double-check this chart here) yeah, that 58 as I recall. So seeking to improve and perfect. When we come to the nature of those people who rejected him, letting go of him because of the family he was born into giving him up for adoption. If he could not control those circumstances of his own abandonment, then well, let’s just control everything else (pixel, product, and person who entered his world).
So the desire to lead could then be interpreted as more than ambition. It may have functioned as proof for every success or “insanely great” product. Every A-player who just delivered the vision (that became evidence submitted to an absent jury and says, “See, I am worthy. You should not have let me go.”)
And the desire to decide or sit in binary judgment over others (perhaps that placed him in the role of what the parents would have occupied). One who chooses who stays and one who is cast out. Now the 40 at the sixth-line level will do that. You know it’s the “off with his or her head” line. So this time he held the power and he would not be the one abandoned.
So if this interpretation holds, his mind conceptualized through desire because desperation out of lack of self-worth or self-esteem would have been the reason why he did what he did. You know the not-self making decisions. But the deepest desire, the one that may have fired all the others, simply this: to prove that he was and had always been worthy of love.
Love, Direction & the Right Angle Cross of Planning
Now when we talk about love (see I want to make this simpler) “want” is a very big deal for this man. When we talk about love in the Human Design world, the identity is the center not only for direction but also love. So oftentimes with the not-self purpose, there are many factors (but because he is a split (in this case I’m seeing a wide split) it takes more than one gate in order to connect up any of this definition island with this up here). Then we’re seeing someone who is always looking for direction and love in the lives of others.
Now if we talk about the Right Angle Cross of Planning here (this is an investigative martyr and the concept of a plan for the community or the family is really, really important). Life’s themes are always going to lead to fuck-ups or mistakes with the third-line body, particularly the unconscious. What does not work is something that you bang into. So we could say that he was designed to get to the bottom of the things that do not work if this is his design (saving others from going down the wrong path).
And in Human Design, we can look at what’s interesting about this particular shift. This is right for him. We have a one. See first-line color and also tone. So a 1-1. We call that a chain in rave psychology here. So the chain maps the cognitive architecture from the bottom up. This one down here even at the base level. So we’re looking at a highly concentrated one energy.
Okay. So the Cross of Planning here being about a strategic and one-sided mind (you know, rather than the right and receptive, now we have the exceptionally strategic first-line, authoritative mind). This fits perfectly with the tribal nature of what the Cross of Planning is about and has done for us.
So a mind that’s designed to dig into resolving fear and establishing security. And this is a trajectory that’s fixed to the communalist. Same thing like his way of seeing as far as the trajectory, the movement of the awareness of the psychological makeup.
So we see then that we have somebody who is one of the “twisties” as my teacher Andrea Rakel Wolf likes to call them (where it’s a very difficult dynamic when we have polar opposites of these variable aspects because the mind is so radically different than the body in the way that the body functions). Remember the body is the life.
So this is a man who is designed to sniff out the flaws in tribal structures mentally using his awareness to find absolute security (relentlessly testing, strategizing to discover what doesn’t work until they found or have found the most secure foundation for the community).
So that’s a very different story than what Ra said as someone who’s incredibly promiscuous. We no longer have the 59 and the 55 in this design. It’s something to factor in or consider.
Steve’s Own Words Mapped to His Design
So if we look at some of the things that he would say, he would say things like “following the heart.” Steve Jobs: “There’s no reason not to follow your heart.” He said in June 12th of 2005: “I’m the kind of person that could convince himself of things that weren’t necessarily true. That always worked with him for designing products where he could go to people and ask them to do something that they thought was impossible, but he would keep asking and say, ‘It’s impossible, but I still want you to try.’ And because of his sheer will, they would actually make it happen.”
Sheer will. That is something that definitely speaks to the nature of the willpower. He’s been focused on two things: building the team at Apple and his family. That too speaks to the nature of being a Generator, building a team and his family (right there, Channel of Community).
Jobs talking about his father: “He used to get me things that I could take apart and put back together.” I have noticed this about first lines. My husband’s a 5/1 and being able to take things apart and put them back together (really getting down into the intricate details). Sixth lines tend to be above it all, aloof, not necessarily the detail-oriented people that a first line would be.
Jobs says one is that in order to learn how to do something well, you have to fail sometimes. There’s the wisdom of the sixth line. So if you can’t succeed or fail, it’s really hard to get better or improve. Improvement is the world of the Heart Center.
So if we look at the color one to be motivated by fear instead of the innocence of motiveless motivation (motivated by fear is the motivation about resolving the unknown or the foundation of conceptual intelligence). Color ones are the most intelligent creatures on our planet. It is “I don’t want to be afraid so let me understand this.” It’s not being motivated because you’re scared of something. It’s the foundation of the mind which is resolving to look underneath things. Digging down deep.
It’s underneath the foundation of the love of work, deliverance on the promise of a family to provide for its children or loved ones. Same thing with the business family (is to provide the ability). The foreman is the keynote in a large group of the gate 40 (as in the person who is in charge because they love their work, their research and development).
Of the hexagram, says the 1/3 (so I’m going to look down underneath). They have to do their research. They’re all investigators (first lines) so to understand and make sense of and to know how to support love of work.
So what did Apple do for I don’t know how many people on this planet? Gave us a tool that would help us love our work even down to a phone where we could take our work anywhere we go (good or bad thing, who knows).
First tone is about security and the intelligence being rooted in security issues. So we know that Apple products are way more secure than PC products. How can we deal with the unknown and protect ourselves?
Generally speaking, a first-tone security is about health-oriented awareness. It can be deeply connected to the immune system, especially if it’s on the body side. So this is the mind motivated by the unknown. And if we think about looking back before Apple existed, a 16-year-old Jobs was already exploring the unknown frontiers of electronics.
Forbes analysts noted Jobs wasn’t curious about things that would make him successful. He was successful because he was so curious. Now we know from his design that he does have part of the Channel of Curiosity right here. Yeah. So there’s a couple of activations that might have made him a seeker.
We know that he spent some of his time wandering, exploring India (not only wandering in the technical realms, but also the spiritual realms).
Now motivated by the unknown in order to establish a security (by security itself becoming a motivation). This is something that we have to factor in because it’s so radically different than what it is to be a 6/3. This is the arc of looking towards support and connection because I tell you it’s a very different thing to be tribal versus non-tribal (to have willpower versus no willpower).
Remember that foundational wound of being denied one’s own family, one’s roots of where one really comes from. So if we consider Steve Jobs’ personality as that of an investigator (someone who’s fundamentally motivated by the unknown in order to establish security) then with that security, insecurity itself becoming a motivation. This is a paradoxical wound.
The very wound that drives the quest both reveals and conceals that wound (as far as being abandoned by his biological parents, being adopted by those who loved him deeply, the lack of the sense of security). Who am I? Undefined G Center. Where do I come from? Where do I belong?
We know that this channel here is a design of a part seeking the whole. So perhaps his childhood experience of lacking security could have been because this is part (a big part) remember 70% of the Sun’s imprinting grounded into the Earth. The personality being about potentially a kind of selfishness. We know that the first line can be that isolation and even about communal control because every Heart gate brings us a level of control.
So community or family control for an investigator motivated by the unknown insecurity can drive a need to establish control over the environment or the people within it. The logic is simple: If I can really understand how everything works, I can map every territory. Tribe is very territorial. Then I can predict every outcome and then nothing can hurt me ever again.
Often times the logic of the childlike mind when you have a trauma at a very young age (and trauma is relative). Somebody could break their arm in a situation that’s incredibly traumatic; other people get raped and they don’t really have the same kind of issue. It really depends on where you’re at. How were you cared for afterwards? What is it that you went through and what deep roots of the wound maybe go beyond this particular lifetime but back through generations?
Insecurity is always going to be a part of the first-line theme. So fundamentally, how do we survive in our families? This conceptualizing process (how do we recognize it is a rejected theme after all).
How do we recognize in the case of the first tone and the first color? There’s if you’re not operating correctly, not only is he going to be frustrated, but he’s also going to be afraid. And that’s basically what’s going on in the mind as far as the motivation of neediness rather than resolving the fear underneath the security issues.
Particularly when it comes to friends, families, familiars (there’s a fear remnant that adds on to the not-self always). So sure, yes, it was very scary when we made a big old mistake at Apple. It can happen. It’s not that he’s completely protected from fear. He says there’s something going on. You don’t know exactly what it is, so you want to learn. Very clear perspective.
And it’s interesting about this type of dynamic with this chart. Well, there’s too many places to go back here.
And it’s interesting about this chart (this combination of having the four and the one or any of the harmonic colors in any position here being swapped). We really have to dig deep and see what is he seeing outside versus what is he internally. So the “I am” principle here of the personality or the “we” out here. And that’s how you differentiate between the two if it’s partially confusing to you.
And what’s interesting is he said “good PR educates people. You can’t con people. Products speak for themselves.” So that ability to learn is very, very clear in his perceptual reality.
So let’s take a look at that. When it comes to his mind and his trajectory, his motivational frequency (remember if he is this type of human, a 1/3, it’s a left-facing arrow). It’s strategic. So he’s communalist having a community and working with others. So you have a repeating pattern not only in the Channel of Community but also working with others.
His trajectory (and trajectory is something that can go back and forth. It can just be fixed to one side). It’s really a differentiating factor with the color fear (finding security, getting rid of fears, dealing with survival). His lock is to having a community and working with others. But there’s also this separatist and aloneness separation. Interestingly, Gate 40 is a gate of one of the three gates of aloneness.
So this is a man who rejected connection with his own daughter (rejected her saying “I’m not your father” and going to court for that even). But later in life, forgiving and being able to establish strong bonds and working partnerships. No one is successful alone, particularly a wide split like he.
So going from isolation to connection (there’s this recognition about his own cancer diagnosis). And then what happened was he actually joined a group in order to support other people also diagnosed with cancer. That’s very different than a man who gives up or denies their own daughter.
And Jobs sent this email that I’ll read here (a document that reads like a confession from a man who had spent his life pretending otherwise). Quote: “I grow little of the food I eat. I do not make any of my own clothing. When I needed medical attention, I was helpless to help myself survive. I did not invent the transit or the microprocessor, object-oriented programming, or most of the tech I work with. I love and admire my species, living and dead, and I am totally dependent on them for my life and well-being.” Unquote.
You can hear that he admitted that his survival depended on others. And this is an obvious admission to most of us, but for him, it’s a monumental shift for a man who had built his identity around self-sufficiency and control and all those things we hear about with regards to the way that he was acting back in the day.
Remember what happens with the motivation of fear is we get transferred to blind need and feeling physically needy (taking care of needs rather than getting to the bottom of things). What you think is needed ’cause it’s blind. So there’s no cognitive intelligence of security here when it’s transferred. You might hear yourself saying “you need to” or “they need to.” So watch your thinking and language to be able to discern.
Was there an obsessive need to control? Multiple sources gave Jobs this attribute. One analysis put it like this: “Jobs never wants us (hear the ‘want’) wants us to lose control. His vision involved offering an end-to-end product.” Quote: “My vision was to create the first fully packaged computer.” This wasn’t just about hardware. It’s controlling every aspect of the user experience.
So an ex-employee explained: “You don’t understand. It’s not about the looks. It’s about control. Jobs never wants us to lose control.” We need to be in control. Remember, need is part of this stream. It’s a stream expression gate, a mechanical expression gate in the Heart Center of the needs for the tribe.
And as someone who also has a business, we know that those of us who have our own business, we treat our people like family. They are our family. They’re our work family. Managing, micromanaging details (this is a very on-top-of-details or detail-oriented person).
And as someone personally (me who loves 1/3s, my daughter, some of my favorite people being 1/3s) you’re looking at somebody who makes critical decisions and oodles of seemingly non-critical ones too.
As far as when it comes to, let’s say, the food in the cafeteria (Gate 40 is the stomach, Gate 37 is the mouth) and being able to feed that tribe, the work family was definitely part of the cards for him.
You can hear that he didn’t want his body to be opened. He didn’t want to be violated in that way. And again, “want” is clear in his design being someone perspective-wise who had that color want and being on the trajectory of mastery because he had a focused awareness motivated by what’s necessary to think about to take in. So that’s the master-novice as far as the way that he’s designed to see.
And he says, “I like to believe there’s an afterlife. I like to believe the accumulated wisdom doesn’t just disappear when you die, but somehow endures.” And we know that he has “believe” as part of the activations (multiple ones) his unconscious voice of belief.
So that’s the end of our journey.
Final Thoughts & Your Turn
And I just want to invite you (if it’s right for you) to play with me and to share what you think or what do you recognize about Steve Jobs. Which one of these charts is actually accurate? Not sure. I don’t have certainty. I’m not a mental certainty person. But with time and maybe some more playing with his chart, we might find an awareness that flowers and blooms.
So I don’t know when this is going to happen but there’s a lot more that is in store with regards to analyzing a Human Design chart. Since we’ve come so far in this journey I felt a recognition to continue on since it’s kind of (I don’t like closed, you know, I don’t like things that are just left open-ended). I want (I don’t want a big question mark in my mind). Is he? Isn’t he?
So what I’d like to do is continue on and look at some other aspects of his chart. We could look at his Dream Rave. We can look at his life cycles. We can look at his death to find the purpose. We can even take a look at the activations between him and Steve Wozniak and see if we can find any more clues to whether or not he was a 1/3 or a 6/3.
So, is Jobs a 6/3 or is he a 1/3? Please put your comments down below. I’d love to hear from you. And thanks again for joining me in this journey. Until next time. Bye for now.
